Like most Canadians, you may be familiar with the inspiring story of Terry Fox who was just 18 when he was diagnosed with bone cancer. He began his Marathon of Hope across Canada in 1980 following the amputation of his right leg, running a marathon each day for 143 days straight!
Did you know that while he was in the hospital, his father, Rolly, a CN employee for 36 years, was able to stay by his side thanks to his colleagues who covered his shifts so that the family wouldn’t miss a paycheck? Rolly’s story is testimony to CN railroaders’ true dedication and solidarity, and just one of several amazing connections between Terry Fox and CN! CN is proud to partner with the Terry Fox Foundation for the 39th Annual Terry Fox Run taking place on Sunday, September 15 with over 900 runs across Canada. CN employees, pensioners and their families are invited to join the CN Team for a community run in one the locations where it is being held. To register or support the run please visit the Terry Fox Run – Winnipeg by clicking here. If you are participating in the run, please register by Sept 9th. All registered participants will receive details by email as well as a CN100 ball cap at the run. All money raised from this event supports cancer research through the CN Employees and Pensioners Community Fund, and CN will match employees’ funds raised up to a maximum of $25,000. While we encourage you to raise funds, it is not mandatory. Comments are closed.
