There have been some interactive questions on this blog. Unfortunately, we are not able to engage in a Q & A dialogue through this method.
Some of the questions have to do with the above Volunteer Grant Program sponsored by CN. Application for this grant can only be made through CN's website at http://www.cn.ca/emmployeevolunteer. For those who have received correspondence from CN that their application has been approved and is being processed, but are concerned that the grant has not been received by your charity, please check with your Charity as they may not have advised you that it has been received. If you are still concerned and the timeframe has passed that receipt of the cheque was expected, please use the contact information in the correspondence you received from CN. Should we be able to obtain other contact information, we will communicate this to our membership. In the meantime, we encourage you to be patient especially at this time of year when Canada Post is extra busy. Symington Family Day will be held on Saturday, September 10th. Tickets are available starting the week of July 25th from Dale Schlag or Laureen Boyd on the 1st floor of M Building at Symington. Limit of 4 per person.
9th Annual 55+ Housing & Active Lifestyles Expo - Monday, May 30th from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Victoria Inn, 1808 Wellington Ave. The event will include exhibitors representing housing facilities, housing support services, care facilities, financial services, moving and storage options, realtors, home safety and security and various public and non-profit agencies that provide services or assistance to older adults. As a point of interest, Margaret Hollingsworth (husband was retired Locomotive Engineer Robert Hollingsworth) will be doing a book launch on her new book "Gathering Memories" at McNally Robinson on Sunday, April 17th from 2 to 4 p.m. Stop by and say hello to Margaret and hear what she has to say about her book.
From April 25th to May 1st, CN will again this year join forces with Operation Lifesaver to promote public rail safety to communities throughout Canada. We encourage everyone to think safety not just during the official "Rail Safety Week", but every week.
Here are 8 Rail Safety tips that could save your life....
Please share these safety tips and act as a role model around trains and tracks! For more information on Rail Safety, visit www.cn.ca/railsafety. Welcome to the first time attendees at our February meeting: John Delvecchio, Kurt Burstahler and Jack Robb. Hope you enjoyed the meeting and will continue to come out often!
Are you a CN Pensioner or Surviving Spouse? Are you a member of our Association? If not, have you wondered why you should consider becoming a member all for only $1 a month? Hopefully, our Benefits of Membership page will assist you in making the decision to join us. Check it out!
