CN Railroaders In The Community Volunteer Grant Program

6/16/2015

Great news!  CN has recently expanded the Volunteer Grant Program which includes CN Retirees and their families.
  • Retired Employee Volunteer Grant:  $500
  • Youth Amateur Sports Volunteer grant:  $500
  • Spousal/survivor Volunteer Grant:
           - $250 for a charitable organization
           - $250 for Youth Amateur Sports

In addition just recently introduced, is a new "Refer a CN Friend" incentive to increase the grant money your charity normally receives by just referring an eligible first-time grant recipient to the program between May 25th, 2015 and November 30th, 2015.  Their charity will get a CN grant and yours will receive an additional grant equal to the amount it originally qualified for.  There are no limits to the number of people you can refer, which meanss no limits to the grants you can accumulate for your charity!

For more information and to learn all the details about these enhancements and this program, please visit www.cn.ca/employeevolunteer and start sharing the good news!

a) is there a specific registration form I must fill out?
b) If so, will it obtain lines for additional bonafide volunteers to put their names thereon?
c) We have a number of volunteers that visit, assist, Alzheimer patients in a facility. After Mass each Friday, we then conduct a "Sing Along".
d) The combination of Mass, plus the Sing Along takes about one hour each, for a combination of a two-hour morning.
e We have on the average, ten to twelve volunteers per Friday.

Darn! I thought that when my CN personnel set up a question and answer website that it was going to work.
However, just like all the other websites where one applies, spends about 1/2 hour filling it out; submits a qualified "Comments" Then Wham! you say that something went wrong. Sorry, buddy, but there was an error. Try/submit again. I don't think so.
Why does this always happen after a lengthy time has been applied to the program. This time it was the Volunteer Grant Program.

Did you click on the link to the CN website? All the information is there -- as to eligibility, application. It all must be done on the CN website. There instructions are clear. Not sure if you are suggesting that CN personnel set up the cnpensioners.ca website. This is run by CN Pensioners who volunteer their time. If you wish to apply for the grant, you must visit the CN website www.cn.ca/employeevolunteer. Then click on the box that says eligibility - to learn more. You can also apply from there.

I volunteer about 100 hours a year as the founding citizen at the Hanna Community Garden and over 60 hours a year at the local food bank. I also sit as a town councilor for our great community.I feel that there is no greater accomplishment than helping to make our town the best place to live in western Canada.

Early last year, I was approved for volunteer grant(retired-Vita Curling Club---#875408). Didn't receive grant, shirt or cap. Seems other people in same boat.

Jerry - the CNPA of Manitoba is looking into this. Is it possible that the grant went directly to the Vita Curling club and that they didn't inform you? Also, receiving a shirt or cap, did you get an email back from CN / Top Marketing asking you to select a gift? If you did, but still haven't received it is because that had some technical problems and although fixed, still have some backlog. If you could provide me with some specific details it would help in following up.

How do I get an application to apply for a grant l am a retired employee of CN

To apply you must go to the CN website at CN.ca under Community. It has to be done on line. Organizations that one volunteers for must be a registered charity. If you are not sure, then check with your organization. If your online application is approved, the cheque will be mailed to the organization (not to the pensioner). If you have problems applying, email [email protected]

You have to go to the CN website at www.cn.ca. You can only apply online as I mentioned previously. You are currently on the CN Pensioners Association of Manitoba website - not CN. We are pensioners and volunteers only. Here is the link https://grantstream.com/CN/form/default/en/
If you need assistance from CN, email [email protected] as mentioned in the reply above.

Please go to our webpage https://www.cnpensioners.ca/railroaders-in-the-community.html for complete instructions and where to go online to apply. CN has introduced new features to the program but application still has to be made on line through their website at https://cn.benevity.org/user/login

I too applied for the usual $500 grant for hours I work at our local CN museum and was declined. My spouse's application was supposedly accepted sometime ago but no $ yet to her volunteer org. This new outfit that has taken over the program is totally not in the loop.
