CN 100th Celebrations - Winnipeg
Thursday, September 19th to Sunday, September 22nd, 2019
The CN 100 celebration for Winnipeg is now officially over. It would not have been possible without each and every one of you. We were able to assemble 81 volunteers to cover all the required shifts and having that many people available allowed us to staff each shift at slightly higher levels than the maximums they were requesting. While that still gave each of us a full shift to cover, I think with the additional staff, we were able to provide a better experience for the people attending, particularly on the very busy days on the weekend.
Not every detail went smoothly and there were long shifts with no breaks, and delays in getting food some days and, of course, the weather issues on Friday morning that had us all at a standstill, waiting for a break, and the resulting soggy grounds from all the precipitation of Friday and Saturday.
Despite all the weather and grounds issues, however, there were a lot of happy faces out there, wandering about taking In the exhibits, and the roles you played in managing them through the exhibits, and interacting with them while they were there, was a huge factor in creating that level of enjoyment.
The overall attendance was 5,184 visitors which included 1,653 CN employees, pensioners and families who attended the Family Day portions on the Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Job very well done!
Big Thank You to All!
Stay tuned as we gradually get photos uploaded to our Facebook page and website. We will also include some in our upcoming newsletters.
